Below is a recipe from her Basic Essentials cookbook.
This is a favorite and healthier choice if you have kids and don’t want all the chemicals in the
Macaroni and Cheese:
(you can make several packets of the dry cheese mix at one time. Store in snack size zip-loc baggies)
6T.cheddar cheese powder
5T.instant dry milk
1/4 tsp.dry unsweetened lemon koolaid powder
Mix cheese powder, dry milk, salt and lemon powder and set aside.
2 1/4cup dry macaroni
8 cups water
6T.butter + about 6T.water
Bring water to a boil and add dry macaroni; cook until tender. Turn heat to low, drain the macaroni and put back in pan. Add butter and water; stir in dry ingredients and heat well. When butter is melted remove from heat. Cover. Let it sit for about 3 minutes. (If you like you can add 4-6T. fresh grated sharp cheddar and a little more milk) Stir,cover and let sit for 5 minutes. Stir again and serve.
